Monster Hunter Wilds developer and publisher Capcom held a showcase for the upcoming game that revealed a new trailer featuring a new local, a new monster, and the return of two monsters from the series. Capcom also announced details on the game’s currently running Open Beta Test 2 and the release of the game’s official benchmark test program.
The new local being introduced in Monster Hunter Wilds is called the Iceshard Cliffs. As its name suggests, the new local is a mountainous region that features a snowy climate. It’s also the home of one of the game’s new monsters, the Hirabami, a Leviathan class that features sail-like membranes that allow them to float and attack from the air using their sharp tails. The trailer also revealed that classic series monsters, Nerscylla and Gore Magala, will also be in Monster Hunter Wilds.
The showcase also revealed more details about the game’s ongoing Open Beta Test 2, which started today. While it was previously announced that returning monster Gypceros will be available to hunt during the open beta test, the showcase revealed that Monster Hunter Wilds‘ flagship monster, Arkveld will also be present. Additionally, the Open Beta Test 2 will be adding the base camp’s training area, private lobbies, and an online single player mode. Capcom did note that the recently announced performance and balance adjustments that have been made since the first open beta will not be implemented in the second. Players will have to wait for the game’s launch to experience these changes.
However, players will still be able to get an idea of how Monster Hunter Wilds will perform on their systems using the newly released benchmark tool. Available through the Steam page of Monster Hunter Wilds, the benchmark tool will allow players to adjust the game’s display and graphical settings then run the benchmark to measure the performance.
Going back to the Open Beta Test 2, here are the schedules for it.
- February 7 (Friday) at 11:00 AM to February 10 (Monday) at 10:59 AM (GMT+8)
- February 14 (Friday) at 11:00 AM to February 17 (Monday) at 10:59 AM (GMT+8)
