Monster Hunter Wilds Announces Release Date in New Trailer

Monster Hunter Wilds developer and publisher Capcom has announced the game’s release date alongside a new trailer that shows off many details on the upcoming game. The latest game in the long-running franchise will be released on February 28, 2025, on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.

The new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds shows off a bit of the game’s story, its important characters such as Nata, the new flagship monster Arkveld the White Wraith, other new monsters, the Lynian tribe, the new Scarlet Forest area that changes depending on the environment or weather, and more.

Alongside the release date announcement and new trailer, Capcom also released more details on Monster Hunter Wilds. Here’s a description of the game’s story:

“The fates of a people and nature entwined. At the center — a boy named Nata and the mysterious White Wraith. Several years ago, a boy named Nata was discovered near the border of the Forbidden Lands, an uncharted region believed by the Guild to be uninhabited. Nata recounts how his village was attacked by a mysterious monster. In response, the Guild has organized an expedition to investigate. The Hunter is assigned to one of the units tasked with investigating the ‘White Wraith’ and rescuing Nata’s people known as the Keepers. The Hunter — protagonist of our story—belongs to the Avis Unit. The unit tasked with investigating the monster known as the White Wraith and looking after the mysterious boy, Nata.”

Expeditions are one of the new activities in the game where players are brought to a specific are to complete a number of objectives. During expeditions, players can also target any monsters in the area to start a new quest. Players can explore the different areas of Monster Hunter Wilds with the help of the hook slinger, which is the latest evolution of the slinger. The game also includes a fishing activity.
