Honkai: Star Rail developer and publisher HoYoverse has announced that the popular game’s latest Version 3.2 update will launch on April 9, 2025.
In Version 3.2, “Through the Petals in the Land of Repose,” players will continue their Flame-Chase Journey alongside the Chrysos Heirs. It will also introduce new 5-star characters Castorice and Anaxa, and the game’s Two-Year Anniversary celebrations.
Here’s a summary of the game’s story in Version 3.2:
With the disappearance of the Death Titan Thanatos and the unexpected fall of Oronyx, the Trailblazers will journey alongside the Chrysos Heir Castorice to the forgotten city-state of Styxia—a ruined place submerged in the Sea of Souls, strewn with colossal dragon bones and haunted by wandering spirits. Guided by an ancient lantern, players will gradually unravel the ancient truth behind the Titans and the draconic calamity through fragmented tales told by spectral residents. However, the exploration takes a perilous turn when the party confronts Pollux, a leviathan slumbering in the depths of the River of Souls. This HP-manipulating foe forces the team to meticulously monitor their vitality during combat. One misstep could spell catastrophe.
Beyond external dangers, the heroes face internal strife as well. Okhema’s Council of Elders aims to halt the Flame-Chase Journey through a council vote, while the unliving scholar Anaxa, sustained by the Coreflame of Cerces, complicates matters further. His secret dealings with the Council of Elders hint at a shadowy alliance. As the mysteries of Styxia intertwine with Okhema’s political machinations, the Trailblazer’s journey grows ever more treacherous, with their expedition and the Flame-Chase Journey facing even more challenges.
As for the two new 5-star characters that will be added in the update, Castorice, the cursed daughter of the River of Souls, is a Remembrance path Quantum type character that is able to summon the spectral dragon Netherwing after using her Ultimate. Netherwing burns it own HP to deal damage to enemies while also attacking in unison with Castorice. When allies lose HP, it is converted into HP for Netherwing, allowing it to deal even more damage. Netherwing is also able to shield the party by taunting enemies and will deal damage to enemies while healing allies when it leaves the battle. Castorice also introduces a new and unique mechanic to the game, which prevents allies from instantly falling from killer blows. Instead, they will be placed in a near-death state and must fulfill certain conditions to successfully be revived and return to battle. Surprisingly, this mechanic works even if Castorice is not part of the team.
On the other hand, Anaxa, a member of the Seven Sages of the Grove of Epiphany and founder of the Nousporism, is an Erudition path Wind type 5-star character that can apply random weakness stacks to enemies. Once these stacks reach a certain number, Anaxa is able to enter the Qualitative Disclosure state that increases his damage and allows him to use his Skill Attack without consuming Skill Points. His Ultimate inflicts Sublimation on all enemies, instantly applying seven weaknesses on them.
Apart from the release of the Castorice and Anaxa banners, Version 3.2 will also feature reruns of Fugue, Jiaoqiu, Acheron, and Dr. Ratio. The developers have also revealed that Silver Wolf, Blade, Kafka, and Jingliu will also be receiving balance updates sometime during the update.
Lastly, Version 3.2 will feature two different Two-Year Anniversary celebration events. The “Festive Gifts” event will reward players with 20 free pulls through daily check-ins, and on April 26, the anniversary date, Trailblazers will receive a commemorative in-game card from a companion and 1,600 Stellar Jades as a gift. Additionally, players can claim one free 5-star character of their choice between Ruan Mei or Luocha.
