Globe has reported that it has achieved 100% 3G coverage for the company’s entire network, a first in the country. The company also plans to achieve the same full coverage for its 4G/HSPA+ network within 90 or by the end of the third quarter of this year.
“With 100% 3G network, we now have a robust capacity for high-speed mobile data access. Providing our network with full HSPA+ coverage in 90 days will provide an even faster mobile internet experience.” Globe President & CEO Ernest Cu said, “The benefits of staying connected have never been better greater, leading to the growing prevalence of smartphones and other mobile devices. People are able to experience high-speed internet, allowing them to stay connected to their homes and offices anytime and anywhere, making it so much easier for our customers to stay productive even when doing many other things.”
Globe is also planning to build more 3G and 4G cell sites that by the end of the year the company expects to have a more than 6,500 cell sites around the country. “Our transformation journey does not end with the 3G and 4G technologies. We will continue to improve our network’s infrastructure to accommodate our customers’ fast-paced digital lifestyle needs,” Cu added.
Lotus F1 Partnership
Globe also announced a new partnership with the F1 racing team Lotus F1 which will bring the racing team’s Marlon Stockinger to the country for Globe’s upcoming Globe Speed Day on August 30, 2014 at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
The Globe Speed Day will feature a driving exhibition around BGC by Stockinger in a Lotus-Gravity Charouz Formula Renault 3.5 race car. The event will also feature Lotus F1 simulators, booths, freebies, and games in partner-establishments around BGC.
