Converge has officially launched Freedom, its own video streaming service that will give the company’s FiberX subscribers access to up to 40 high-definition channels and up to 97 standard-definition channels. Converge customers will be able to subscribe to Freedom as an add-on to their FiberX plans and will be able to access the service through either a mobile app or on their TV via a separately available set-top box.
The Freedom mobile app and set-top box come with several features that will make the viewing experience of subscribers easier and more convenient. Time Shift allows users to pause, rewind, or fast-forward up to four hours of content. Playback lets users rewatch their favorite shows up to seven days. Users will also be able to watch content from multiple devices simultaneously anywhere in their home.
Since the service works through Converge’s FiberX broadband, users will only be able to access the service from their own home. Each Freedom subscription comes with app credentials for one device while additional app credentials for more devices can also be purchased for PHP 50 each. As for the set-top box, it will be available for a monthly rental fee of PHP 100 and comes with a remote control, power cord, HDMI cable, UTP cable, and an RCA to AV cable.
Converge subscribers residing in Metro Manila will have two Freedom plans available – Plan 299 and Plan 499 – the former will come with access to 8 HD channel and 49 SD channels while the latter will have 21 HD channels and 73 SD channels. The company is currently running a 30-day trial for its Freedom app for current FiberX subscribers from March 29 to April 30, 2019, to give them a chance to experience the new experience for free.
